Clarksville Police report 15 Year old Steals Car Left Running, Unattended

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Monday, August 4th, 2019 around 8:00pm, Clarksville Police say a 28 year old man went inside of a gas station at the 600 block of Lafayette Road to purchase a pack of cigarettes. He left his Toyota 4Runner in the parking lot running and unattended.

When he looked out of the business he saw his car being driven away. He ran outside to try and intercept the vehicle.

The driver in the stolen vehicle began to drive erratically and struck a pole on the property and then sped off in the car down Ryder Avenue.

Detective Steinlage arrived on scene, reviewed video footage and was able to identify the 15 year old thief.

The 15 year old was located, taken in custody, charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle and transported to a juvenile detention facility.

The Toyota 4Runner was located and recovered at the 2400 block of Whitfield Road.
