Last year, the Montgomery County Health Council (MCHC) undertook an initiative to create a public directory listing in one document resources available within our community.

Council members and interns from Austin Peay State University (APSU) contacted local providers to obtain current information on hours, services and accepted insurance.

After many hours of research, the MCHC is pleased to announce that the Montgomery County Mental Health Directory is ready for distribution to the public. The electronic version of the Directory is available for viewing and download at https://mcgtn.org/health.

In September, MCHC, members will begin distributing hard copies of the Directory to various health providers and social services offices. The MCHC would like to thank the Mental Health Cooperative for the donation of funds to print the hard copies.

The MCHC would also like to thank Candis Batey, with the Regional Overdose Prevention Specialists (ROPS), for providing two free Narcan trainings last week. Seventy-nine people attended the trainings and are now certified to administer Narcan (brand name for Nalozone) to an individual experiencing the effects of an opioid overdose.

If you were unable to attend the trainings last week, ROPS offers free trainings once a month on the third Wednesday of each month from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in Civic Hall at Veteran’s Plaza. These trainings are open to the public but pre-registration is required online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/free-narcan-training-from-asap-of-montgomery-county-tickets-61976982824.
