APSU Soccer hits the road to take on Colorado, Northern Colorado

APSU Soccer - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) soccer team will play a match at mile-high altitude for the first time in program history when it takes on Colorado at 5:00pm Thursday, September 5th, 2019. The Govs also will play Northern Colorado in a 12:00pm Sunday, September 8th match.

Thursday, the Governors begin their first trip to the Rocky Mountains with a stop in a Boulder, Colorado. The Govs will take on Colorado at an elevation of 5,345 feet, the highest elevation at which an Austin Peay soccer team has ever played.

The Buffaloes enters the match undefeated, having knocked off No. 24 Texas last weekend at Prentup Field.

Sunday, the Governors travel to Jackson Field in Greeley, Colorado, for their first-ever meeting with Northern Colorado. The Govs and Bears both enter the weekend searching for their season’s first win. Northern Colorado will have two chances to find a win before they play the Govs, with matches at Grand Canyon (September 5th) and SMU (September 6th) before hosting Austin Peay State University on Sunday.

Through three games, Claire Larose leads the Govs with eight shots, three of which have been on goal. Frehsman Anna McPhie has helped lead the aggressive attack for the Governors this season, firing off three shots, two of which have been on goal.

However, junior Katie Kenward is still the only Governor to have found the back of the net this season, scoring against Chattanooga (August 23rd).

On the other side of the ball, senior captain Renee Semaan has yet to leave the field for the Govs, leading the way on defense. Semaan got off her first shot on goal of 2019 off a free kick in the last match against Mercer.

Both games this weekend will be available for streaming. The Thursday match at Colorado will be streamed for free on the Pac-12 Plus Facebook page. Sunday’s match against Northern Colorado will be streamed on Pluto TV.
