The Governors five-kilometer race will begin their race at 5:30pm.

This will be the first time the Govs will race in Edwardsville against Ohio Valley Conference foe SIU Edwardsville in the Cougars home meet.

Senior Emmaculate Kiplagat intends on securing another top 25 finish after placing 22nd in the Belmont Opener. Molly Howard looks to supplement Kiplagat’s efforts after she posted a 29th finish in the Belmont Opener with the time of 19:58.93. Sara Martin will intend to perform another top-three finish for the Govs and a top-40 finish.

The SIUE Cross Country Course for the SIUE John Flamer Invitational will be the same course where the OVC Championship will be held this season. The opportunity for the young Govs could not get overlooked for head coach Valerie Brown as the Govs enter their second meet of the season.

“Giving them the chance to run on a championship course will be huge for us. It will definitely be a confidence booster,” Brown said. “They will know that they will need to be at their best in the championship and going throughout the season it will prepare them by being familiar with it.”
