If these questions rouse your curiosity, then you should check out the Austin Peay State University (APSU) new slate of one-credit hour community courses being offered this October.

“Everyone knows Austin Peay State University is where students earn degrees, but last year Austin Peay piloted a few short courses for the community at a greatly reduced price so that people from any background can have the opportunity to enjoy learning,” Dr. Chad Brooks, APSU associate provost of research and dean of the College of Graduate Studies, said.

“This year, Austin Peay State University has five new short courses for the community. Each short course is designed to be completed in approximately 13 to 16 hours and the methods of delivery can be hybrid or completely online.”

The classes, which begin October 23rd during Austin Peay’s Fall II term, include:

  • Social Media for Business
  • Marketing in the Digital Age
  • Fake News? The Media and Elections
  • Introduction to Korean History and Culture
  • Introduction to Pharmacology

Participants who complete a course will receive one hour of college credit, which can be applied later to several degree programs at Austin Peay.

“These community courses are a great way to leverage APSU’s gift of education back to our community so that people of all walks of life can enjoy a college-level class and gain some new skill sets too,” Brooks said.

Registration is now open for these community classes, which cost only $75.00 for the entire course. For information, visit www.apsu.edu/october or contact Benjamin Drummond, assistant director of the APSU Center at Fort Campbell, at 931.221.1457 or drummondb@apsu.edu.
