Community members and caregivers from all walks of life — especially service members, veterans and their families — are invited to attend.

The event is sponsored by the Clarksville Suicide Prevention Alliance, a group working to prevent suicide by promoting a comprehensive public health approach.

#BeThere Clarksville will include several dozen booths, staffed by members of groups like Reboot Recovery, Operation Hope, the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network, Steven A. Cohen Clinic at Centerstone, the VA’s Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization, Yogamat and Team Red White Blue. Those attending the conference will be able to connect with these groups, learn about their services and collect brochures and informational items.

“While part of suicide prevention focuses on mental health care, prevention also must address a person’s environment,” said Sherry Pickering, executive director of the Montgomery County Veterans Coalition and a member of the Clarksville Suicide Prevention Alliance. “So we’ve designed our conference to showcase many of the local and regional organizations that provide peer support, financial education, employment assistance, alternative whole health and more.”

In addition to the booths, the conference will include speakers and a panel discussion about ‘lived experience.” The event is free and light refreshments will be served. Registration is available online at http://bit.ly/2kdRRfF
