Clarksville Parks and Recreation accepting registrations for Youth Basketball League

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Is your child interested in playing basketball this winter? The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer a co-ed youth basketball league for boys and girls ages 7 to 15.

Volunteer coaches will work with children to improve individual skills in dribbling, passing and shooting while instilling values in teamwork and sportsmanship. Parents of players are also expected to help create a positive environment at games by exhibiting good sportsmanship.

Players will be placed on teams through a skills assessment process conducted by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department. There will be no draft of players by coaches this year.

Practices will be at local school gymnasiums beginning the week of November 4th and games will be each Saturday beginning December 7th at the City’s three recreation centers: Burt-Cobb (ages 7-8), Crow (ages 9-10) and Kleeman (ages 11-15). The season will run approximately eight weeks, with no games or practices December 17th to January 2nd. Tournament play will extend the season two weeks.

In an effort to make teams as balanced as possible, player evaluations will be conducted October 14th (ages 7-10) and October 15th (ages 11-15) at Burt-Cobb Recreation Center. Players will be evaluated by Clarksville Parks and Recreation staff. After the completion of the evaluations, teams will be formed based on evaluation rankings by the staff. All players in the league are highly encouraged to attend the evaluations.

Registration is available online at www.ClarksvilleParksRec.com through Sunday, October 6th. The fee is $65.00 per participant. Each player will receive a jersey, shorts and medal. Registration is also available in-person at the City’s recreation centers, as well as at Clarksville Parks and Recreation, 102 Public Square. First-time registrants must provide the child’s birth certificate for age verification.

Interested in a leadership role on the court? Clarksville Parks and Recreation is seeking coaches! Our youth leagues rely heavily on the generosity of parents and volunteers to provide coaching support. There is no experience required and training will be provided.
