APSU Men's GolfSapphire Valley, NC – Tuesday was a long day for Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s golf team, with much of the second round to play before a sprint to the finish in the J.T. Poston Invitational at The Country Club of Sapphire Valley.

Laurel Wilt Disease Detected on Sassafras Trees in Montgomery County, Dickson County

 

Tennessee Department of AgricultureNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) is advising forest landowners to monitor their sassafras trees after detecting laurel wilt disease in Montgomery County and Dickson County.

Laurel wilt is a fungal disease caused by an invasive pathogen, Raffaelea lauricola, which can affect a range of plants in the Lauraceae family, including sassafras and spicebush in Tennessee.

APSU Women's GolfClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s golf junior Riley Cooper was the big mover among four Govs who finished in the top-10 at the 2019 F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, which saw the Govs take runner-up honors after holding off a hard-charging Western Carolina.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s New Providence Pool open for indoor season

 

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – On Tuesday, October 1st, 2019, the Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s New Providence Pool, the only public indoor pool in the City of Clarksville, opened for its fall and winter indoor season.

New Providence Pool is at 168 Cunningham Lane, off Fort Campbell Boulevard. The pool offers swim lessons, water fitness classes, lap swim, and open recreational swimming through May 3rd, 2020. The facility also offers a children’s pool area, a climbing wall, inflatables, diving board, and a concession stand to purchase drinks and snacks. An ADA accessible hydraulic lift chair allows those with special needs to enjoy the pool.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office seeks public help locating Vehicle Burglary Suspect

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle burglary suspect operating in the Sango area.

A suspect was seen on video surveillance in the Nick’s Ridge subdivision. Vehicles in the Ivy Bend, Bellshire, Stonecrest and South Woodson subdivisions were also burglarized.

Personal items and a firearm were reported stolen. With the exception of one vehicle where a rock was used to break the window, there were no signs of forced entry on the burglarized vehicles.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports Gun discovered on Student at Northwest High School

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports a student at Northwest High School was taken into custody Tuesday morning after School Resource Officers discovered a firearm in his backpack.

The 14-year-old, 9th-grade student was carrying a .380 semiautomatic pistol with two rounds of ammunition loaded in the magazine.

School administration detected an odor of marijuana on the student and alerted the School Resource Officer. When questioned by SRO Green, the student admitted to having marijuana in his possession.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Northwest High School Resource Officers find firearm in Student's backpack Tuesday morning.
