Senior quarterback JaVaughn Craig shared Offensive Player of the Week honors after his 15-for-21 performance yielded 220 yards and a pair of passing touchdowns.

He also rushed for 30 yards and three scores, including a recovered fumble in the end zone, accounting for five total touchdowns on the day. Earlier on Sunday, Craig earned CollegeSportsMadness.com National Offensive Player of the Week honors.

For the second time in three weeks, junior defensive back Kordell Jackson earned OVC Defensive Player of the Week honors. In related news, he also intercepted a pair of passes, netted a tackle for loss and a quarterback hurry, becoming the first player in Division I football (FCS or FBS) to intercept multiple passes in multiple games in 2019.

Craig is the first Gov to pick up OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors since Jeremiah Oatsvall took home the November 12th, 2017 honor. Jackson is not just the first OVC defender to take two honors within three weeks since 2017 (Jacksonville State’s Darius Jackson), he’s the first Gov since Brett Williams in 1980 to earn multiple OVC Defensive Player of the Week honors in the same season. It also equaled the same number earned by all Austin Peay State University defensive players between 2010 and 2016.

Craig, Jackson and the APSU Govs are on the bye this week before returning to Fortera Stadium for an October 12th matchup against 2018 FCS Playoff participant Southeast Missouri.
