Montgomery County Commissioner Rashidah Leverett Initiates Effort to Clean-up Lot by Norman Smith Elementary School

 

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – A pool sized concrete hole next to Norman Smith Elementary School was recently turned into a safe, green, usable space. District 5 Montgomery County Commissioner Rashidah Leverett took the initiative to make calls inquiring what could be done to make changes to the area shortly after being elected in fall 2018.

Since closing the public pool next to Norman Smith Elementary in August 2015, the empty lot which once contained an active outdoor swimming pool, had fallen into disrepair and became an eyesore to the area.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office arrests Eight after Shots Fired in South Ridge Subdivision

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – On Monday, October 1st, 2019, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) investigators and deputies arrested eight men in connection to gunfire in a field near South Ridge Subdivision  at approximately 3:30pm.

Deputies responded to the area after residents reported hearing gunfire and bullets hitting their homes.

When deputies arrived on scene, eight men were seen running into the wood line. One of the men ran to his vehicle and fled the scene. All eight men were located and taken into custody.

Clarksville Police report Truck crashes through F&M front doors on Madison Street

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police say that today, October 2nd, 2019, around 11:35am, a 66 year old man was parking his pickup at F&M Bank, 2698 Madison Street and instead of hitting the brake to stop, he accidentally pushed the gas pedal.

The vehicle sped forward, crashed though the front doors of the bank into the inside of the bank, and then came to a stop.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Swan Lake Golf Course bunkers get facelift

 

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The bunkers at Swan Lake Golf Course — one of Clarksville’s most popular golf courses — have received a facelift.

The course’s four bunkers were rebuilt using the industry-leading Better Billy Bunker linerless bunker system, which provides a new drainage structure topped by pristine white championship sand.

Swan Lake Golf Course is an 18-hole, 6,065-yard course near Dunbar Cave State Natural Area.

Tennessee Department of Transportation Awards Grant for Accessible Vans

Clarksville Transit System - CTSClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Transit System (CTS) is growing its fleet, recently adding four new paratransit vans and three heavy-duty buses.

CTS was awarded a competitive grant from the Tennessee Department of Transportation to fund the new accessible paratransit vans earlier in September.

Austin Peay State University former student Calvin Lockett joins Gwen Stefani’s team on ‘The Voice’

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) former student Calvin E. Lockett has joined Gwen Stefani’s team on NBC’s hit singing competition “The Voice.”

Lockett, age 25, wowed the judges as he sang the Temptations’ classic “Just My Imagination” during the September 30th airing of the show. Judges Blake Shelton, John Legend and Stefani hit their buzzers seconds into the song during the blind audition.
