APSU Women's VolleyballClarksville, TN – An impressive third set comeback by the Austin Peay State University (APSU) volleyball team pivoted all the momentum at a crucial moment and it went on to post a four-set (25-23, 17-25, 25-20, 25-21) Ohio Valley Conference victory against UT Martin, Saturday, at the Dunn Center.

Austin Peay State University (5-13, 3-1 OVC) saw UT Martin tie the match with a second set victory and could not find an answer to open the third frame.

The Skyhawks jumped out to an 8-0 lead thanks to six Governors errors.

Head coach Taylor Mott used her bench judiciously throughout the rest of the frame while seeking a combination to turn the tide.

The Governors began their comeback with junior Chloe Stitt, freshman Erin Eisenhart and junior MiMi Arrington all on the court off the bench. Arrington and senior Ginny Gerig Busse combined to serve up a 7-2 run that got the Govs back to within a point at 14-13. Later, runs of 4-0 and 5-0 run helped the Govs race to set point with Tegan Seyring and Aysha Hood posting a block to give APSU the win.

Austin Peay State University carried that momentum into the fourth set, jumping out to a 7-2 lead. UT Martin attempted a comeback twice in the set, but could not close the gap as the Govs won their first home match of 2019.

Stitt and Seyring each had 13 kills to lead the Governors offense. Freshman Kelsey Mead came off the bench and finished with 36 assists and four blocks. APSU recorded 48 kills and 13 blocks in the win.

Gintare Mackeviciute led UT Martin with 15 kills, a .500 attack percentage and six blocks. She paced a Skyhawks squad that had 55 kills and 10 blocks but could not overcome 48 errors (32 attack errors).
