The last time the Govs ran in the Fast Cats Classic was in 2011, and the APSU Governors came out with a team victory. Four runners finished in the top-15, while two of the runners (Kosgei and Yator) posted third and fourth in the individuals.

Austin Peay State University is coming off a short break after hosting their 2019 Cross Country Festival on September 21st. This break allowed the Governors to get healthy and also to mentally and physically prepared themselves for the meets leading up to the OVC Championships.

At their home meet, the Govs finished third in the team results with Thomas Porter and Nash Young breaking the school record in the five-kilometer race. Porter had a time of 15:21.51 (8th) and Young finished with the time of 15:26.17. The just under two-mile distance does not phase these two runners, who will look to secure more top-25 finishes on Saturday.
