APSU Football ranked in FCS Top 25 polls

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – With back-to-back wins against nationally-ranked foes for the first time in program history, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) football team broke into both the AFCA FCS Coaches and STATS FCS Media Top 25, Monday.

Austin Peay State University, which had been receiving votes in both polls off-and-on this season, checked in at No. 19 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll and No. 20 in the STATS FCS Poll of media members. Joining the Govs in both polls was Ohio Valley Conference members Jacksonville State (#14 Coaches/#16 STATS) while UT Martin, Southeast Missouri, and Murray State received votes each poll.

The rankings are the Govs highest in each poll since their respective inceptions. APSU was ranked for the first four weeks of the 2018 season, reaching No. 21 in the Coaches Poll and No. 22 in the STATS poll. The Govs also were ranked during the 1978 and 1979 seasons in the Associated Press’ I-AA Top 10 poll.

The APSU Governors, who are ranked in a poll for the seventh week in program history, put their ranking on the line in a 4:30pm, Saturday, Ohio Valley Conference contest against Tennessee State at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
