Marsha Blackburn Leads Bicameral Bill to Speed Communications Recovery Following a Natural Disaster

 

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – On Thursday, October 17th, 2019, U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) introduced S.2645, the Connecting Communities Post Disasters Act, to speed up communications recovery after a natural disaster.

This legislation requires the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to exempt projects that replace or make improvements to damaged communications facilities or equipment following a major disaster or Presidentially declared emergency. Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) has introduced companion legislation in the House of Representatives.

Tennessee Unemployment Rate Decreases Slightly in Month-to-Month Comparison

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – Newly released information from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development shows lower unemployment across the state in September.  The seasonally adjusted rate of 3.4 percent is 0.1 of a percentage point lower than the revised August rate of 3.5 percent.

AAA reports National Average Declines With Fall Driving Season Underway

 

AAANashville, TN Tennessee Gas Prices are holding steady. Today’s average is $2.35, which is the same as yesterday, but half a cent higher than last week’s average. Compared to last month, the average is 7 cents higher but 43 cents lower than this time last year. 

The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline is $2.64 per gallon, which is one cent less than a week ago, seven cents more than a month ago, and a quarter less than a year ago.

APSU Basketball to hold season ticket pickup event October 30th

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) athletics department will host a Preseason Season Ticket Holder event from 4:00pm-6:00pm, Wednesday, October 30th, 2019 at Strawberry Alley Ale Works’ Pilsner Room.

During the event, season ticket holders may pick up their 2019 Governors Basketball Season Ticket packages. In addition, fans wishing to purchase season tickets for the upcoming season are welcome to visit with Governors Ticket Office ticket staff in attendance to help them pick their seat.

Roxy Regional Theatre brings back Richard O’Brien’s “The Rocky Horror Show” for Eight Year, October 25th – November 2nd

That sweet transvestite and his motley crew are back for the eighth year in an annual tradition at the Roxy Regional Theatre on the corner of Franklin Street and First Street in Historic Downtown Clarksville.

Richard O’Brien’s cult classic “The Rocky Horror Show” returns to the Roxy Regional Theatre for a limited engagement on Friday, October 25th, at 8:00pm. In keeping with the theatre’s traditional pay-what-you-can opening night, all tickets not pre-sold at the regular ticket price will go on sale at 7:30pm that evening for a $5.00 minimum donation.

Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Chargers Series History

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Chargers share a long and storied history. The two teams, founding members of the American Football League, have met 46 times since 1960. The Chargers lead the series 28-17-1.

Most recently, the Titans played the franchise’s first overseas game against the Chargers in London on October 21st, 2018. A touchdown pass from Marcus Mariota to tight end Luke Stocker put the Titans behind by one point with 31 seconds remaining.

Clarksville Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade set for November 9th

 

Montgomery County Veterans Service OrganizationMontgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade will take place on Saturday, November 9th, with pre-parade ceremonies set for 9:00am in front of the historic courthouse (south side) on Third Street in Downtown Clarksville.

The keynote speaker is U.S. Army retired Colonel Rob Salome, who now serves as the Director of Strategy and Leadership Development for Solutions 21, a nationwide consulting firm.
