Last Game between Tennessee Titans, Las Angeles Chargers

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – In Week 7 of the 2018 season, the Titans traveled to London to take on the Los Angeles Chargers and lost by a score of 20-19.

The Titans scored a field goal on their opening possession of the game, driving 55 yards on 11 plays. First down receptions were contributed by WR Tajaé Sharpe, RB Derrick Henry and RB Dion Lewis, before K Ryan Succop converted a 28-yard attempt. Tennessee got on the board early, 3-0.

As Los Angeles took the field, Chargers QB Philip Rivers threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to Chargers WR Tyrell Williams on the team’s first offensive play. Los Angeles took the lead, 7-3.

Later in the first quarter, Chargers RB Austin Ekeler tallied one rushing and one receiving first down, and Chargers WR Keenan Allen notched two receiving first downs to help Los Angeles move the chains. The Chargers were forced to settle for a field goal as they extended their lead, 10-3.

In the second quarter, Tennessee tacked on another field goal as the Titans cut the Chargers’ lead, 10-6. Later in the second, the Titans drove down the field from their own five-yard line to the Los Angeles 10-yard line. With two first-down receptions by Sharpe, one by WR Corey Davis, as well as first down rushes by QB Marcus Mariota, and two by Lewis, Tennessee was able to get into the red zone. However, a red zone pass by Mariota was tipped by Chargers DE Melvin Ingram III and intercepted by Chargers LB Denzel Perriman, as the Titans closed out the first half with a turnover.

On Los Angeles’ opening drive of the second half, Rivers connected with Chargers WR Mike Williams for a 55-yard touchdown as Los Angeles extended its lead, 17-6. On the Titans’ ensuing possession, Mariota led Tennessee on a seven-play, 42-yard drive that resulted in a one-yard rushing score by Henry. The Titans cut the Chargers lead to four points.

In the fourth quarter, Chargers K Michael Badgley converted a 28-yard kick as Los Angeles increased its lead, 20-13. With the Titans trailing by seven and just under five minutes remaining to play, Mariota marched Tennessee 89 yards down the field on a scoring drive.

With 45 yards on the ground contributed by Lewis and 22 receiving yards added by Sharpe, the Titans were faced with a fourth-and-one from the Chargers one-yard line. Mariota connected on a one-yard touchdown pass to TE Luke Stocker, as the Titans cut the score to one point. With 35 seconds remaining to play, Tennessee opted to attempt a two-point conversion and try for a victory in London.

However, Mariota’s pass was incomplete, and the Titans fell by a final score of 20-19.
