LG Electronics Plant Project in Running for Tennessee Awards

LG ElectronicsClarksville, TN – A project completed for LG Electronics in Clarksville is among projects being considered in the 2019 Engineering Excellence Awards competition, presented by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Tennessee (ACEC Tennessee).

The award is one of the highest honors an engineering firm can receive and is considered the “Academy Awards of the engineering industry.”

LG Electronics Manufacturing Plant Phase 1, completed by engineering firm Gresham Smith, is a $360 million, highly advanced, 1-million square foot facility that produces front and top-loading washing machines.

Gresham Smith provided full engineering and architectural services on the project and finished design and construction within a 14-month timeframe. The new plant includes highly automated features like robotic washing machine assembly operations and employee-friendly features such as interior daylighting and landscaping. The completed project represents a foreign direct investment success story for the City of Clarksville and U.S. manufacturing.

Project entries from across the state are up for consideration. The winners of the 2019 Engineering Excellence Awards will be announced during an awards gala at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel on the evening of Thursday, November 21st, 2019. In 2018, the Bush Brothers Process Water Reclamation Facility project, completed for Bush Brothers & Company in Dandridge, Tennessee, by Nashville engineering firm Brown and Caldwell, won the top prize.
