Austin Peay State University Men’s Golf places eighth at Pinetree Intercollegiate

APSU Men's GolfKennesaw, GA – Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s golf senior leadership was solid but it could only get the Govs so far on the final day of the Pinetree Intercollegiate, a day which saw Michael Busse make a big move up the leaderboard while Austin Lancaster maintained a spot in the top-10.

On a blustery day, Busse’s final-round 72 stood out as the tournament’s fourth-best individual round, vaulting him from 30th into a tie for 14th (76-74-72–222). Of the 10 birdies the 452-yard par-4 at No. 18 yielded for the tournament, one belonged to Busse in the final round.

Lancaster, meanwhile, was able to maintain a top-10 standing on a day that played two strokes tougher on average than either Monday round. The Hendersonville Tennessee native held it together well enough to finish eighth (67-75-78—220); after starting and scuffling to a 43 on the back-nine, he saved his own day with a front-nine 35, including a birdie on No. 4.

Freshman Tate Dickerson and junior Chase Korte checked in at 229 overall to tie for 34th. Dickerson (75-76-78) carded one of just five birdies on the 450-yard par-4 No. 1, while Korte (78-71-80) averaged 2.83 strokes on par-3 holes, second in the entire tournament and indicative of Austin Peay’s tournament-leading 3.10 par-3 average as a team.

Sophomore Micah Knisley (79-74-82—235; t-50th) rounded out the lineup for the Govs, ranking second on the team to Busse with 36 pars. As a team, the Govs placed eighth (296-294-308—898), dropping a spot from Monday.
