Tennessee Titans last game against Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans traveled to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1 of the 2015 season. In QB Marcus Mariota’s NFL debut, the Titans’ rookie quarterback and second-overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft threw four touchdown passes to lead Tennessee to a 42-14 victory over the Buccaneers.

In doing so, Mariota became the second player in league history to throw for four touchdowns in his first NFL start.

Tennessee took an early 7-0 lead as WR Kendall Wright caught a 52-yard touchdown pass from Mariota on the game’s opening drive.

On Tampa Bay’s opening drive, CB Coty Sensabaugh intercepted the first pass of Buccaneers rookie QB Jameis Winston’s NFL career and returned it 26 yards for a touchdown.

The Titans tacked on an additional score in the first quarter, as Mariota connected with RB Bishop Sankey for a 12-yard touchdown.

Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins got Tampa Bay on the board in the second quarter, with his first of two touchdown receptions in the contest. Mariota connected
with WR Harry Douglas and TE Delanie Walker for a touchdown each, as the Titans took a 35-7 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, Sankey rushed in for a 1-yard score, his second touchdown of the day. He recorded a career-high 74 rushing yards on 12 attempts in the contest
as the Titans increased the lead, 42-7. Winston connected with Seferian-Jenkins for a 41-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter as Tampa Bay decreased the deficit to 42-14, but the Buccaneers were unable to engineer a comeback victory.

Mariota finished his rookie debut 13-of-16 for 209 yards and no interceptions with a 158.3 passer rating. The Titans defense went on to hold Winston, the first overall pick in the draft, to a 64.0 passer rating. Winston finished the game 16-of-33 for 210 yards.
