After the first day of singles play at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, all four Governors in action found themselves in the Singles Consolation draw.

Anton Damberg advanced the farthest of any of the Govs in the consolation draw, winning both of his first two matches, before advancing to the semifinals thanks to a pair of walkovers. Christian Edison also won a match in the singles consolation draw.

While juniors Edison and Jacob Lorino continued to play together in doubles action last weekend, the Govs also unveiled a new pairing in Nashville. Damberg and freshman Thiago Nogueira teamed up, as Noguiera played in his first doubles action of the season with Julius Gold sidelined.

While the UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic takes on the format of multiple dual matches, there is a scoring system in place to crown a singles and doubles champion. Individuals will be placed in their team’s lineup, 1-6, and will be matched up with their counterpart from the opposing team.

Doubles play will use the same format, with each team able to place three doubles duos in the lineup. Individuals and doubles pairings will receive a set amount of points when they win a match, based off of where they played in the lineup, more information on the scoring system is listed below.

The UTC Steve Baras Classic marks the end of the fall schedule for Govs men’s tennis. After the action this weekend, Ross Brown‘s squad will not take the court until they make the trip for an 11:00am, January 18th, match at Louisville.
