City of Clarksvile says Electrical Repairs must be Inspected

CDE Lightband, Clarksville Building & Codes extend permit period to 15 days

Clarksville Department of Electricity - CDE - CDE LightbandClarksville, TN – City of Clarksville property owners who are dealing with storm damage and electrical repairs need to be aware of CDE Lightband and Clarksville Building & Codes Department policies about a key piece of hardware, the Service Mast/Riser, that allows CDE to reconnect power.

Service Mast-Riser

The Service Mast/Riser is the property of the business or homeowner. It includes the weather head, the neck and the meter base.

CDE Lightband is only responsible for connecting its lines to the top of the weather head and installing a CDE Lightband meter to the base.

If the customer’s Service Mast/Riser is damaged or needs to be replaced, the property owner should have the Service Mast/Riser repaired by a licensed electrician. Normally, inspection of the work by Building & Codes must be done within seven days.

However, because of the high amount of damage from last week’s wind storm, CDE and Building & Codes have extended the permit period to 15 days. The $42.00 permit fee is unchanged.

Because of the storm event, CDE Lightband will reconnect service before seeing proof of inspection, and then give customers 15 days to obtain the inspection by Building & Codes. If proof of inspection is not received in 15 service days, service can be terminated.
