Last Meeting between Tennessee Titans, Carolina Panthers

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – In Mike Mularkey’s Nissan Stadium debut as interim head coach, the Tennessee Titans failed to knock off the unbeaten Carolina Panthers as they fell to Carolina 27-10.

Tennessee fell behind 7-0 midway through the first stanza but came back to tie it on a 25-yard touchdown run by running back Dexter McCluster before the end of the quarter. After a 45-yard field goal in the second quarter by kicker Ryan Succop, the Titans trailed 14-10 at the half, but Carolina went on to score 13 unanswered second half points to put the game away.

Rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota finished the day 16-of-24 for 185 yards, including a 19-yard pass to Anthony Fasano that helped the tight end move past the 3,000-yard receiving mark for his 10-year career.

Wide receiver Justin Hunter led the Tennessee offense with four receptions for 47 yards before leaving the game with an injury late in the fourth quarter.

The Titans defense sacked Panthers quarterback Cam Newton five times in the contest marking the most number of sacks by a Carolina opponent this season, while linebacker Avery Williamson led the team with 16 tackles.
