U.S. Representative Mark Green said, “I’m inspired that the National Park Service has granted funds to protect more than 200 acres of battlefield in Tennessee from development. These sites provide a means for Tennesseans to understand three major early engagements of the Civil War, all events that shaped our Nation.”

“My special thanks to the National Park Service’s project partner, the American Battlefield Trust, and to the dedicated Tennesseans on its staff and Board of Trustees who come together to do this important work in our State,” Representative Green continued.

“These battlefields are living memorials to those who served and sacrificed in the cause of freedom, and I’m grateful that Tennessee’s communities will now be able to permanently preserve these historic lands for generations to come.”
