Local CMCSS High School Students to hold “2020 Kick Off Cook Off” for Democrats

Montgomery County Democratic PartyMontgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Democratic Party’s first-ever high school internship program has started with 11 students across the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS).

The collection of local teens, ranging from sophomores to seniors, are now working alongside the MCDP to grow their professional skills in event planning, graphic design, photography, writing, and community organization.

Kennedy Voxe, the MCDP Chairwoman, says they have received “an overwhelmingly positive response to the internship program” and that their group of students have already brought a  “contagious amount of passion and energy” to the party.

Each student gets to define and create their own projects with their professional goals in mind; however, their first major group project is launching soon, and everyone’s invited.

On November 15th, 2019, the MCDP Internship Program will host a fundraiser to celebrate the start of the 2020 political season. The “2020 Kick Off Cook Off” will be a community event where advocates and politicians will compete in an old-fashioned chili cook off, mingle around a fire pit and partake in an unlimited s’mores bar. “Whale Parade”, a popular band consisting of Rossview High School seniors, will be performing to support their peers’ initiative.

Alessandra Mobley (an intern from Rossview’s Media Academy) is very excited to be helping with this event because she, and many of her friends, will be eligible to vote in the Presidential election next year. She hopes to “register and encourage as many other young people to get involved” throughout the next year.

This event will be a perfect opportunity for the community to meet with the newly launched US Congressional Candidate for District 7, Kiran Sreepada, as he competes to take home the medal for best chili!

For tickets, go to secure.actblue.com/donate/kickoffcookoff. Early Bird Tickets are $10.00/person and end on November 11th, otherwise students are $5.00/person and adults are $15.00/person. The event will be located at The Mad Herbalist at 1601 Madison Street and start at 6:00pm.
