Marsha Blackburn Becomes First Republican Woman to Chair Judiciary Hearing

 

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – Today, November 13th, 2019, U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) made history when she became the first Republican woman to chair a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. She chaired alongside Ranking Member Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), marking the first time two female Senators led a Judiciary hearing.

The hearing considered four federal judicial nominees, including Stephen Vaden of Tennessee for the Court of International Trade.

Yesterday, Senator Blackburn spoke on the Senate floor about the historic number of judicial nominees confirmed by the Senate during U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration—158 to date.
