Clarksville, TN – On Tuesday, November 19th, 2019, the Montgomery County Health Department is offering flu vaccines at no charge to the community during a special drive-through “FightFluTN” vaccination event.
In conjunction with Austin Peay State University and the City of Clarksville, the Montgomery County Health Department will provide a drive-through flu clinic from 7:00am-11:00am Tuesday, November 19th at no cost to anyone who wishes to receive the vaccine.
The drive-through clinic will be at Austin Peay State University (APSU) Parking Lot 30 at the corner of Fourth Street and Main street in Downtown Clarksville.
Participants will fill out the required paperwork and then be directed through the process without ever leaving their vehicle. Once forms are filled out and checked, they will see a nurse for consultation and the vaccine, and then be directed to the waiting area for the mandatory waiting period.
“The flu can make you very sick, keep you away from work, school and other activities, put you in the hospital or even take your life,” said Joey Smith, Montgomery County Director of Public Health. “We urge everyone in Montgomery County who has not received a flu shot yet to get one now, and this event is a great time to do it.”
Seasonal influenza activity is spreading in Montgomery County and across Tennessee and is expected to continue for months, so it’s important for anyone over six months of age who hasn’t had a flu shot this flu season to get one now. The flu vaccine is especially important for infants, young children, pregnant women, adults over age 50 and those with chronic medical conditions. The flu shot remains the best protection against influenza.
