APSU Men's BasketballClarksville, TN – Following a tough three-game road trip, Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball team is back in the Dunn Center for the first time since opening night to host Southeastern Louisiana, 7:00pm, Saturday, November 23rd.

Over the course of the road trip, freshman Jordyn Adams ascended to become the reliable option the Govs needed alongside Terry Taylor.

In his first start at Tulsa, Adams dropped 15 points en route to Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week honors, then scored a team-high 25 against Vanderbilt.

The Govs have had excellent backcourt work in the early part of the season; Adams and Reginald Gee are two of the four Govs averaging in double figures, while Antwuan Butler and Carlos Paez boast a combined 2.58-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio; Butler also is putting up 10.3 points per outing and leads the OVC in free-throw shooting as the last qualified shooter in the conference to remain unblemished at the charity stripe.

About the  Lions Southeastern Louisiana

For the second game in a row, the Govs are facing a team under new leadership in David Kiefer, who ascended to the big chair in Hammond following Jay Ladner’s resignation at the end of last season.

Kiefer also had to replace Southeastern Louisiana’s top two scorers and is doing so under the strain of an arduous road schedule that has already taken the Lions, picked 10th in the Southland preseason poll, to Tulsa and Tulane, with visits to Vanderbilt, Louisiana, Oklahoma State and a neutral-court battle with Ole Miss in Jackson, Mississippi still to come.

Kiefer’s club–with just one senior and seven freshmen–has had to grow up early, with three freshmen and four sophomores averaging at least 10 minutes per night.

Last Time Out Against Southeastern Louisiana

This is the first meeting between the two opponents. Austin Peay State University last hosted a Southland opponent in the Dunn Center, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi emerged with a 74-70 win, December 28th, 2015 despite 21 points, 10 rebounds and four steals from Khalil Davis.

Keep An Eye on

Austin Peay State University head coach Matt Figger is well-acquainted with Southeastern Louisiana head coach David Kiefer; he was a student-manager during Figger’s first season at Kansas State and was South Carolina’s video coordinator in 2014-15 while Figger was on Frank Martin’s staff.

A victory would be Austin Peay State University’s first win against an Southland Conference opponent since December 30th, 1997, when the Govs beat Nicholls (then Nicholls State), 71-57, in the Cowboy Shootout in Casper, Wyoming.

Austin Peay State University’s second-chance points have declined in all four games this season, from 20 in the opener against Oakland City to a season-low seven against Vanderbilt on Wednesday.

A win would be APSU’s first home win against a Southland school.

Ty Brewer, who averaged 3.6 points and 3.0 rebounds in less than 14 minutes per game a year ago for Southeastern Louisiana, started out his sophomore campaign with a 17-point, 14-rebound effort at Tulane and has reached double figures in all five games.

Milestone Watch: Taylor needs 10 points to Donald Tivis for 18th all-time, four three-point field goal attempts to pass Kyle Duncan for 23rd, seven made free-throws to pass Chris Porter-Bunton for 33rd, six free-throw attempts to pass Lenny Manning for 36th
