Clarksville, TN – With a room full and police officers and family members, the Clarksville Police Department celebrated the retirement Friday of Sergeant Ramon Ferrer-Ramos, a respected member of the City’s law enforcement team.
Clarksville Police Deputy Chief Crockarell and Deputy Chief Stalder officiated over the ceremony and presented a Certificates of Retirement to Sgt. Ferrer-Ramos, who served the department for 18 years. His retirement is effective today.
It was clear from the laughter, cheers, and testimonials from co-workers that Sergeant Ferrer-Ramos was very respected by supervisors and co-workers alike. The terms “leader” and “friend” were frequently used descriptors.
Ferrer-Ramos started his career with the Clarksville Police Department, January 1st, 2001 after completing 23 years of honorable military service in the Army. He started out as a patrol officer and was selected to be a Field Training Officer.
He was a Crisis Negotiator for 10 years and was involved in diffusing many life threatening critical incidents. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in March 2010 and excelled in his leadership role. He portrayed a positive image to the public and demonstrated his dedication to maintaining the fitness necessary for the dealing with the rigors of the job by passing the voluntary fitness assessment every year.
Sergeant Ferrer-Ramos reached the mandatory retirement age with the Clarksville Police Department but has chosen to continue in public service and law enforcement by accepting a position with the Austin Peay State University Police.
Sergeant Ferrer-Ramos will be missed by his friends and co-workers at the Clarksville Police Department.
