Nashville Predators win a wild one in over-time against the St. Louis Blues 3-2

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators got off to a hot start tonight against the St. Louis Blues, then hung on to win a thriller in over-time, 3-2.

Daniel Carr who has been tearing up the AHL this season, was brought up to the Predators to replace Viktor Arvidsson who was injured on Saturday night, and netted the game winner in a shoot-out for the win.

The Predators knew that the Blues would be gunning for them tonight after suffering a loss at home on Saturday night, and this game didn’t disappoint.

Nashville got off to another hot start at 7:59 of the opening period when Nick Bonino took a pass from Rocco Grimaldi and ripped a shot home for the early 1-0 lead.

Then Ryan Johansen came to the dance at 11:37 and collected a Callie Jarnkrok rebound to lift home the backhand over Jake Allen in net, and suddenly Nashville had a two goal lead, 2-0.

There was plenty of rough stuff in this one tonight as these two teams do not like each other, and the Blues were consistently trying to bait the Predators into penalties.

In the second period though, St. Louis managed to draw to within a goal when David Perron snapped home a quick shot past Juuse Saros in net for the Predators and the score was 2-1.

Into the third period and St. Louis picked up the pressure on Nashville, and at 13:09 of the final frame, Brayden Shenn tied the game in the slot, snapping home a shot for the 2-2 tie.

Both teams had opportunities in the over-time period, with Nashville getting more shots on goal, but it was not to be and the game went to a shoot out.  St. Louis has won 5 of 8 overtime games this season.

In the shoot-out, Perron got the Blues on the board first and St. Louis led 1-0.

The Predators were down to their last opportunity when Filip Forsberg stepped up and calmly slipped a goal past Allen to extend the extra time.

After a miss by Robert Thomas, Daniel Carr took his turn at center ice and promptly ended the mystery with a goal that sent the Smashville crowd crazy with excitement.  Finally, the Predators had won back to back games and gained some ground on the Blues.

Nashville out shot the Blues again 39-25 and Saros, getting his second start in a row bagged the victory.

Nashville will host the Las Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday night.  Puck drops at 7:00pm.
