Clarksville Police report Sharp Eyed Bank Tellers Lead Officers to Arrest of Suspect

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Around 2:00pm, Thursday, December 5th, 2019, Clarksville Police officers were called to a bank at the 2500 block of Wilma Rudolph Boulevard after a woman unsuccessfully attempted to cash a fraudulent check.

Officer Villalpando arrived and located a woman matching the description of the suspect and a foot pursuit ensued across Wilma Rudolph Boulevard. The suspect identified as Tashina Gray, age 25, of Nashville was quickly caught.

It was determined, Gray had previously tried to cash another fraudulent check about a half hour earlier at a Madison Street bank.

The investigation revealed the original checks, which had been altered, were stolen out of mailboxes in Nashville. Additionally, there was another altered check found inside of Gray’s purse along with a drug wrapped in paper.

Tashina Gray, age 25 was booked into Montgomery County Jail and charged with: Two Counts Criminal Simulation, Two Counts, Evading Arrest, and Simple Possession. Gray’s bond is set at $46, 000.

The lead investigator is Officer Villalpando.
