Clarksville, TN – For the first time in 38 days, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s basketball is set for a game in the Winfield Dunn Center, when they play a 2:00pm, Sunday, contest against Illinois State to wrap up the non-conference slate.
Pittsburgh, PA – The Nashville Predators dropped the second game of a two game series with the Pittsburgh Penguins, 6-4, after a controversial late game penalty against the Predators.
Nashville had dug themselves out of an early deficit to tie the game at 4-4, but with less than two minutes remaining, Austin Watson was called for goalie interference after being knocked into Pittsburgh goaltender Matt Murray.
The ensuing power play was all the Penguins needed to seal the game as Jake Guentzel stuffed the winning goal past Pekka Rinne. An empty netter by Bryan Rust gave us the final score, 6-4.
Washington, D.C. – If the commentariat are to be believed, nothing has happened this year in our nation’s capital outside the scope of impeachment.
Funny thing about that: while most of Washington and the mainstream media were focused on the story of the day, I knew that back home, Tennesseans wanted to see a values-driven agenda that didn’t hinge on the Republican Party’s success in the 24-hour news cycle.
It wasn’t an easy thing to pull off. It took a lot of elbow grease to drag the Senate’s collective attention outside of the Beltway and into the homes and businesses of the American people; but I left my office for the last time in 2019 feeling a deep sense of gratitude for all I was able to accomplish on behalf of my fellow Tennesseans.
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans-Houston Texans rivalry is in its 18th year since the expansion Texans began play and the AFC South was formed in 2002. In 35 games, the Titans are 18-17 against the Texans, including an 11-7 mark at Nissan Stadium and a 7-10 record at NRG Stadium.
In the last three seasons, the Titans and Texans have split the annual series, with the home team taking each game.
Knoxville, TN – Offensive struggles troubled the Tennessee Vols basketball team, as Wisconsin’s hot shooting led the Badgers to a 68-48 win Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena.
Nashville, TN – Tennessee State Senator Bill Powers (R-Clarksville) will serve as a member of the Veterans’ Caucus in the Tennessee General Assembly. The Caucus advocates for issues of importance to veterans.
The announcement was made in Nashville on Friday as lawmakers get ready to convene the 2020 legislative session January 14th, 2020.
“We need to be proactive on all matters that concern our veterans,” said Senator Powers.

On December 16th, 2019 at 9:00am, the Clarksville Police responded to a Theft of Property at 2621 Highway 41 A Bypass. The complainant reported that when employees arrived at the business this morning, they found the padlock had been cut off the gate that secures the lot of the business.
Washington, D.C. – NASA says Mars may be a rocky planet, but it is not a hospitable world like Earth. It’s cold and dry with a thin atmosphere that has significantly less oxygen than Earth’s. But Mars likely once had liquid water, a key ingredient for life. Studying the history of water can help uncover how the Red Planet lost water and how much water it once had.
“We already knew that Mars was once a wet place,” said Curtis DeWitt, scientist at the Universities Space Research Association’s SOFIA Science Center. “But only by studying how present-day water is lost can we understand just how much existed in the deep past.”
