Clarksville Parks and Recreation seeks Filmmakers for Clarksville Film Festival

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Do you dream of being a Hollywood director? Do you have a talent for cinematography? The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is looking for you and your team to compete in the Clarksville Film Festival, sponsored by CDE Lightband.

“We know Clarksville has some amazing artists and we’re really hoping to see their talents,” said Maggie Houts, Event Planning Specialist for Clarksville Parks and Recreation. “It doesn’t matter if you have the best gear or just your phone. We are looking for filmmakers who can create a captivating story in 52 hours or less.”

Participants in the event must be at least 14. Team registration is $20.00 and is open through February 20th.

Registration is free for high school students but limited to the first 5 groups, and they may email parksrec@cityofclarksville.com for a coupon code.

All registered teams will attend a mandatory meeting at 6:00pm on February 21st at Freedom Point. After the meeting, the 52-hour contest begins.

The public screening of all the films will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm Saturday, March 28th at the Roxy Regional Theatre. The screening event is open to all ages, with $7.00 per person admission paid at the door. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top filmmakers at the screening.

Houts said the film festival is for anyone who has an interest in filmmaking.

“This is a great opportunity to have fun, have your film shown in a theater, and possibly win some money. We can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!” Houts said.
