Marsha Blackburn, Bipartisan Senators to FCC: Tackle Rural Broadband Prior to 5G Expansion

 

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – On Thursday, January 9th, 2020, Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Joe Manchin (D-W.V.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Jon Tester (D-Mont.), and John Kennedy (R-La.) sent a letter to Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai urging the FCC to take proper precautions to ensure that the 5G fund realizes its potential without expanding the digital divide.

“While 5G implementation is vital to our continued growth and prosperity, we must remain cognizant of the fact that 23% of rural Tennessee communities remain unserved or underserved,” Senator Blackburn said.
