Hopkinsville Community College announces Round Table Reading Series spring 2020 Visiting Writers

 

Hopkinsville Community CollegeHopkinsville, KY – On Wednesday, January 29th, 2020, the Hopkinsville Community College’s Round Table Reading Series will present its first reading of the spring semester at noon at the campus Library located inside the Rotary Club of Hopkinsville Learning Resource Center. Joanna Grisham and Charles Booth will visit HCC from Austin Peay State University (APSU) to read from their current writing projects.

The law was put in place to inform decision making, but over the years, complying with the regulatory requirements has become unnecessarily complex and time consuming and has delayed important infrastructure projects.

NEPA requires that Federal agencies evaluate the potential environmental impacts of major projects such as roads and bridges, rail and water infrastructure, or conventional and renewable energy projects.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency confirms Silver Carp in Chickamauga Lake

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – On January 10th, 2020, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) received a report that a silver carp was captured on Chickamauga Lake in October.

The angler, Dustin Hinkle, said the invasive fish “jumped into the boat as I deployed my trolling motor.” Hinkle encountered the fish near the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, and stated he “saw 15-20 more fish near the surface” exhibiting a feeding behavior.

Tennessee Vols Basketball holds off South Carolina for 56-55 win

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – A strong defensive effort and a drawn charge by John Fulkerson in the closing seconds propelled the Tennessee Vols basketball team to a 56-55 win over South Carolina Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena.
 
With Tennessee leading by one with six seconds remaining, South Carolina guard A.J. Lawson grabbed the rebound off a UT missed 3-pointer and raced the length of the court to attempt a go-ahead shot. As Lawson drove down the lane, Fulkerson stepped in front and drew a charge with 1.4 seconds remaining, giving the Vols possession and securing the win.

Tennessee Department of Agriculture says Laurel Wilt Disease detected in Robertson County, Hamblen County

 

Tennessee Department of AgricultureNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) is advising forest landowners to monitor their sassafras trees after detecting new cases of laurel wilt disease in Robertson County and Hamblen County. In the last quarter of 2019, the disease was detected in trees in Montgomery County, Cheatham County, Dickson County and Williamson County.

Clarksville-Montgomery County under Tornado Watch, Thunderstorm Warning, Wind Advisory

 

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The Nashville Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Clarksville-Montgomery County, Northern Dickson County, Northern Cheatham County and Robertson County. A Tornado Watch is in effect until 1:00pm CST for Clarksville-Montgomery County and Middle Tennessee.

At 8:08am CST, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Elkton Kentucky to 10 miles north of Dickson, moving northeast at 60 mph.
