Clarksville-Montgomery County adds IPAWS Public Alert, Warning System

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County, has added the capability to deliver emergency alerts via IPAWS, the nation’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System.

IPAWS will provide local officials with an effective way for alerting the public to potentially life-threating emergencies happening within Montgomery County.

IPAWS Public Alert and Warning System Added to Clarksville Montgomery County.

The alerts will come through Emergency Alert System (EAS), Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), and NOAA Weather Radio.

The IPAWS used the Code Red software provided by OnSolve.

The alert symbols apply a common language for communicating incident information to the public. The symbols pair with event codes in order to optimize messaging content, making alerts more accessible for people with disabilities or limited English proficiency.

IPAWS will function to warn the public of emergencies that pose an imminent threat to life and/or personal safety. When activated IPAWS will reach all citizens that may be potentially impacted by the event.

IPAWS disseminates alerts through:

  • Cellular devices
  • TV & radio
  • NOAA weather radios

The alert will contain information regarding the type of situation, location, and the expected duration, as well as the type of response emergency personnel suggest for the public. This service is free to the public and you will not have to sign up to receive these alerts.
