Clarksville, TN – Christian Edison picked up a pair of wins for the Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s tennis team, Friday, but the Governors dropped the match to Illinois State, 6-1, at the Governors Tennis Center.
Edison and Jacob Lorino picked up the first doubles match win of the season for the Governors, when they knocked off the No. 1 pairing from Illinois State, 6-4.
But the Governors dropped the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches, and lost the doubles point.
The No. 3 singles pairing was the first on the board, as the APSU Governors Julius Gold fell to the Redbirds’ No. 3. The No. 1 singles pairing was the next to finish, as Edison picked up the first singles match win of the season for the Govs.
The No. 4 singles match featured a pair of players from Sweden, as Austin Peay State University’s Oliver Andersson took on Illinois State’s Melker Isaakson. Andersson won the first set, but Isaakson rallied to win the next two sets and the match.
The No. 2 and No. 5 matches wrapped up next, with the Governor’s Anton Damberg and Lorino both falling to Illinois State. The final sinlges match of the day saw the Austin Peay State University’s Hunter Sanders fall to the No. 6 play for the Redbirds, as Illinois State claimed a 6-1 match win.
