Clarksville Parks and Recreation reports Parks, Golf Courses close due to High Water, Cold Weather

 

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department announces that because of heavy rain and rising waters on the Cumberland River and its tributaries, these City of Clarksville parks will be closed until further notice:

McGregor Park boat ramp and north extension of the RiverWalk, Clarksville Greenway from Pollard Road trailhead to the water treatment plant and Trice Landing.

Additionally, Swan Lake Golf Course will be closed through noon on Sunday because of freezing temperatures.

Best of Clarksville fundraiser comes to a close

 

Best of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – For the past 24 years, the Best of Clarksville has been a community fundraiser focused on giving back.

For 19 years, the event donated funds to a national charity. In 2015, the board members made the decision to choose Clarksville based charities that made a positive impact within the city.

Since 2015, the Best of Clarksville has been able to give nearly half a million dollars directly within our community, with 2019 receiving over $160k, breaking the record for any year prior.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s 50 Plus Games set for May 11th-16th

 

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting registration for the 50 plus games for adults 50 and up from now until May 4th, 2020.

This year’s events will be May 11th-16th at venues across Clarksville, including Crow Recreation Center, Swan Lake Sports Complex, Pinnacle Family Entertainment Center, Austin Peay State University Foy Center, Ajax Turner Senior Center, D&D Black Light Mini Golf and Rossview High School track.

City of Clarksville recognizes men who pulled woman from burning vehicle

 

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – A grateful Clarksville resident, joined by citizens, families, friends and the City Council, thanked the two heroes who pulled her from a burning car after a crash on Warfield Boulevard in December.

Ingeborg Johnson is flanked by Flumencio Brinkley and Sergio Carrillo, who were honored for bravely removing Johnson from a wrecked vehicle just as it burst into flames. The three gathered for a happy reunion at Thursday’s City Council meeting.
