Clarksville, TN – A grateful Clarksville resident, joined by citizens, families, friends and the City Council, thanked the two heroes who pulled her from a burning car after a crash on Warfield Boulevard in December.
Flumencio Brinkley and Sergio Carrillo were honored with Certificates of Recognition at Thursday’s City Council meeting by Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts and Fire Chief Freddie Montgomery.
A fiery wreck involving four vehicles occurred December 16th at the intersection of Warfield Boulevard and Rossview Road.
The collision left an 82-year-old woman, Ingeborg Johnson, trapped in one of the vehicles. Brinkley and Carrillo bravely risked their lives to break a window, open the door and carry Johnson to safety as the vehicle burst into flames.
Brinkley and Carrillo each got a warm hug from Johnson, and a standing ovation from the crowd gathered for the meeting. Their certificates recognized them for bravely going above and beyond to save the life of a stranger and fellow Clarksvillian.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this is Clarksville,” Clarksville Mayor Pitts said proudly as he and Chief Montgomery congratulated the men and presented flowers to Johnson on behalf of the City of Clarksville.
