Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office takes Northwest High School student into custody for bringing Gun to School

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reports a student at Northwest High School was taken into custody Friday morning, February 14th, 2020, after School Resource Officers discovered a firearm in his backpack.

The 17-year-old student was carrying an unloaded .380 semiautomatic pistol with eleven rounds of ammunition loaded in the magazine.

School administration notified the school resource officer of the possibility of a gun on school grounds after several students expressed concerns.

“This should highlight how important it is to notify officials if you suspect something is wrong,” said Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson.

“If it is a behavior you see or a threat you hear, the information you share can resolve a situation. I am very thankful the School Administrator and our SRO acted quickly,” Sheriff Fuson stated.

The student will be charged with felony weapons on school grounds.
