To qualify, applicants must be nontraditional students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Recipients may be full-time or part-time students.

The award will rotate on an annual basis between biology, chemistry and physics majors. Special consideration will be given to students who are residents of rural Tennessee areas. This scholarship is non-renewable.

Over the years, Dr. and Mrs. Fitch have contributed to many of Austin Peay State University’s most important initiatives. They are also loyal fans and supporters of all the Governors sports teams. All three of their children have attended Austin Peay State University. One of their daughters received a second bachelor’s degree from the APSU School of Nursing, and their son will soon graduate with bachelor’s degrees in biology and chemistry after nearly a decade of touring as a professional musician.

“Through this scholarship, we hope to encourage those of any age and circumstance to pursue their higher education dreams,” Patrick and Ruth Fitch said.

Endowments are permanently restricted funds managed by the Austin Peay State University Foundation. The amount of each scholarship award may vary and will be determined based upon the value of the endowment and the Foundation spending plan.
