Tennessee State Representative - District 68Nashville, TN – Recently, the state of Tennessee launched a comprehensive program to raise awareness about the benefits of registered apprenticeships.

ApprenticeshipTN is designed to increase the number of skilled employees that comprise our state’s workforce.

Under the program, apprentices participate in supervised on-the-job training, as well as job-related education. Additionally, they are compensated, and their wages continue to increase as they move further into the program.

Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office now accepting Volunteer Firefighter Grant Program Applications

 

Tennessee State Fire MarshalNashville, TN – The Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO) announces that applications will be accepted starting Friday, February 14th, 2020, from volunteer fire departments for grants through the newly established Volunteer Firefighter Equipment and Training Grant Program.

Created through legislation overseen by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and passed by the Tennessee General Assembly, the program earmarks $500,000 for the purchase of firefighting equipment by Tennessee’s volunteer fire departments or to help volunteer departments meet local match requirements for federal grants for purchasing equipment.

Clarksville Association of REALTORSClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Association of Realtors Spreading Our Support (S.O.S.) Foundation is proud to announce a grant approval of $60,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, TN.

The grant monies will go towards partnering with the Clarksville Fire Rescue to fund their home build for Sherry Elliott that is breaking ground on February 18th, 2020 as well as fully funding the 101st Montgomery County Habitat for Humanity home in 2020.

NASA sends new Scientific Investigations to International Space Station aboard Northrop Grumman Cygnus resupply Spacecraft

 

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationWashington, D.C. – A Northrop Grumman Cygnus resupply spacecraft is on its way to the International Space Station with about 7,500 pounds of science investigations and cargo after launching at 2:21pm CT Saturday from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia.

The spacecraft launched on an Antares 230+ rocket from the Virginia Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport’s Pad 0A at Wallops and is scheduled to arrive at the space station at about 3:05am Tuesday, February 18th. Coverage of the spacecraft’s approach and arrival will begin at 1:30am on NASA Television and the agency’s website.
