The Silsbee, Texas, native averaged a team-high 22.5 points against SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois last week, hitting 58.3 percent from deep and 81.8 percent at the charity stripe for Austin Peay State University.

At SIU Edwardsville, he posted a perfect 6-for-6 night at the line with four boards and 14 total points, but Eastern Illinois was his big day. The precocious freshman poured in a game-high 31 points, hitting 12-of-16 free throw attempts and sinking five second-half threes. Those five threes were part of a 26-point outburst in the second half; he hit all five threes in the first nine minutes of the second frame, helping key a 17-4 run.

Adams is averaging 22.0 points over the last four games. With his performance in Charleston, he’s now the third freshman in program history with 500 points in his first season and the third freshman with more than 50 made three-pointers in his first campaign.

With this honor, Adams has now equaled Chris Horton’s Austin Peay State University record with his ninth OVC Freshman of the Week accolade, the second-highest tally in league history.

Adams and the APSU Govs begin the final week of the regular season with an 8:00pm Senior Night home contest against Morehead State.
