Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball downs Ole Miss 77-66 on Senior Night

 

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – The Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team prevailed over an upset-minded Ole Miss team on Thursday, taking a 77-66 win on Senior Night at Thompson-Boling Arena. 

Junior Rennia Davis was Tennessee’s (19-9, 9-6 SEC) high scorer, recording her 28th career double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds.  Freshman Tamari Key and sophomore Rae Burrell were also in double figures, with Key scoring a career high of 17 points and Burrell finishing with 14 in the final regular-season home game of the 2019-20 campaign. 

Ole Miss (7-21, 0-15 SEC) was led by Deja Cage and Mimi Reid, who posted 22 and 21 points, respectively.

Nashville Predators win epic battle over the Calgary Flames 4-3

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators fought back from the brink of death tonight to defeat the Calgary Flames in an absolute “barn burner,” 4-3.

Mikael Granlund was the hero tonight with two point, including the game tying and game winning goals, to defeat their conference rivals.  Both teams are battling for points to stay in the playoff race, and tonight was Nashville’s night.

Colton Sissons started the scoring for the Predators at 19:28 of the opening frame, taking a feed from Colin Blackwell and firing the “one timer” to beat David Rittich of the Flames for the 1-0 lead.

The report, ‘How States are Expanding Broadband Access,’ features best practices from nine states that are developing leading broadband programs to address critical connectivity gaps in their communities.

Austin Peay State University crowned 2020 OVC Indoor Track and Field Champions

 

APSU Women's Track and FieldBirmingham, AL – For the first time since 2001, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) track and field team is the class of the league.

A huge second day of competition and a clutch 4x400m relay allowed the Govs to overtake rival Murray State and win an Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field title in head coach Valerie Brown‘s first season at the helm.

Representatives Mark Green, Stephen Lynch Introduce Bill Holding DOD, VA Accountable for Veterans’ Toxic Exposure

 

U.S. house of RepresentativesWashington, D.C. – Today, Thursday, February 27th, 2020, Representative Mark Green (R-TN) and Representative Stephen Lynch (D-MA), Chairman of the National Security Subcommittee, introduced H.R. 5957, the K2 Veterans Toxic Exposure Accountability Act of 2020, which directs the Secretary of Defense to assess the toxic exposure of American military service members deployed to Karshi Khanabad Air Base (K2) in Uzbekistan from 2001 to 2005 and address the health conditions caused by this exposure.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation, Northeast High School ROTC plant trees at Billy Dunlop Park

 

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department staff and 16 Northeast High School ROTC students teamed to plant 25 trees at Billy Dunlop Park.

A matching grant from the State of Tennessee’s Agricultural Enhancement Program paid for the trees, which will serve as a riparian buffer to protect the park’s riverbank from erosion.

The riparian buffer, planted February 15th, 2020 is one piece of a larger improvement project at Billy Dunlop Park that includes renovations to the pavilion and accessible restrooms.
