The APSU Govs will continue play at the Spring Fling tournament Saturday, as they face IUPUI at 10:00am, and depending on their seed after that game will play their semifinal game at either 3:00pm or 5:30pm, versus a yet undecided opponent.

After a scoreless first inning, the Govs saw the Redbirds score four times in the top of the second, but answered back with three run of their own in the bottom of the frame – with all three coming in on Brooke Pfefferle’s second home run of the season.

Illinois State (8-7) would add two more runs in the top of the third to extend their lead to 6-3, with Austin Peay State University getting one back in the bottom of the inning on Kelsey Gray’s RBI single that scored Katelyn Smith to make it 6-4.

Gray and Pfefferle would finish the game with two hits each for the Govs.

The lead would be short lived, as WKU answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to tie the game, 3-3.

Austin Peay State University would retake the lead, 4-3, in the top of the fourth, as Drew Dudley, opened the inning with a single and scored  three batters late on a double by Osowski.

But that would be the final run of the game for Austin Peay State University, who saw WKU plate four runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for good, while adding a solo run in the sixth for the final 8-4 margin.
