Marsha Blackburn Report: Combating the Coronavirus

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – The President’s early decision to increase screening at airports and borders and ban non-U.S. citizens from China from entering the country has helped prevent the coronavirus from spreading. This week, the President appointed Vice President Mike Pence to lead our response effort to the outbreak. My office has been in touch with the Tennessee Department of Health, which will be providing regular updates for Tennesseans.

Recent reforms enacted by Congress, which improved federal, state, and local preparedness and response programs, have helped the United States achieve top-ranked status as the country best prepared to deal with a potential pandemic.

Senator Marsha Blackburn.

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – This week, I talked with U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar about the specific steps the Donald Trump Administration and state and local health systems are taking to protect Americans against the coronavirus – a viral disease that was first detected in Wuhan, China.

The Administration is doing an excellent job of keeping Americans safe so far—in other countries this virus has spread at an alarming rate, but an effective effort in our country has limited the number of cases to 15.
