101st Airborne Division to Hold Ceremony at Gander Memorial

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Members of the media are invited to attend the 35th Anniversary Gander Memorial remembrance ceremony, December 12th, 2020 at Fort Campbell, KY. The ceremony will be held at the new memorial site, which was dedicated last year. 

The ceremony is scheduled for 9:30am.

The memorial consists of two monuments and 256 Canadian sugar maple trees. It was built to honor the memory of the 248 Soldiers and eight crew members who lost their lives when Arrow Air Flight 1285 crashed in Gander, Newfoundland, shortly after takeoff on the morning of December 12th, 1985.

Saturday, Fort Campbell observes the 35th anniversary of the crash at Gander, Newfoundland, Canada where 248 Soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division and the flight crew lost their lives in a plane crash after completing a peace-keeping mission in the Sinai.

City of Clarksville prevails in Clarksville Greenway Lawsuit

 

Judge says law insulates City of Clarksville from ‘premises liability action’

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville has prevailed in its defense against a lawsuit seeking damages after a bicycling injury on the Clarksville Greenway.

Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Ross H. Hicks on November 30th granted the City’s second Motion for Summary Judgment dismissing the case, known as Marquis v. City.

Austin Peay State University Football hires Jourdan McNeill as running backs coach

Tennessee Department of Health reports 7,292 new cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus in Tennessee, December 9th, 2020

 

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) reports that there have been 385,948 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus as of Wednesday, December 9th, 2020. That is an increase of 7,292 cases from Tuesday’s 378,656. There have been 4,636 (+92) confirmed deaths in Tennessee because of the virus.

There have been   O N E   H U N D R E D  T H I R T Y   F I V E    new cases of the COVID-19 Coronavirus reported in Montgomery County. The total is at 7,811. Twenty of the new cases reported today were in the age group of 5-18 year olds. There has been ninety seven deaths in Montgomery County due to the virus.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee Women’s Basketball (2-1) is back in action at Thompson-Boling Arena on Thursday, December 10th playing its third home game of the 2020-21 campaign, as Furman (1-2) comes to town for a 6:00pm CT contest.

The UT Lady Vols needed a game to fill a void, and Furman found itself in the same position after Stetson had to cancel its contest this week vs. the Paladins.

UT is coming off a hard-fought, 79-73 overtime loss at West Virginia on Sunday in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge and will face its second Big 12 foe in three games when it plays Texas in Austin on Sunday at 5:00pm ET (4:00pm CT) on ESPN.
