Tennessee Vols Basketball loses to Alabama at Thompson-Boling Arena, 71-63

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Three Vols scoring at least a dozen points and five thunderous blocks from senior Yves Pons weren’t enough for the seventh-ranked Tennessee men’s basketball team, which fell at home to Alabama, 71-63, on Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Alabama (7-3, 2-0 SEC) used an efficient .500 (10-20) shooting mark from 3-point range to break things open in the second half to end Tennessee’s (7-1, 1-1 SEC) undefeated start to the season.

Victor Bailey Jr. led the Vols in scoring for the fourth time this season, dropping in 16 points while pulling in a career-high seven rebounds.

APSU Governors Basketball falls at home to Eastern Kentucky, 80-75

Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball team suffered an 80-75 loss to Eastern Kentucky, Saturday afternoon, on a night when the Colonels—who entered play hitting less than 30 percent from beyond the arc—made 11 three-pointers en route to a victory in the Dunn Center.

APSU Women's BasketballClarksville, TN – Just like last season’s matchup between Austin Peay State University women’s basketball and Eastern Kentucky; it was three-pointers and forced turnovers that were the difference for the Governors, who connected 10 times from three-point range and forced the Colonels to turn the ball over 26 times on the way to a 69-51 win, Saturday, in the Winfield Dunn Center.

Tennessee Department of Health reports 6,950 new cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus in Tennessee, January 2nd, 2021

 

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) reports that there have been 528,509 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus as of Saturday, January 2nd, 2021. That is an increase of 6,950 cases from Friday’s 521,559. There have been 6,029 (+7) confirmed deaths in Tennessee because of the virus.

There have been   T W O   H U N D R E D   F I V E   new cases of the COVID-19 Coronavirus reported in Montgomery County. The total is 11,869. Twenty three of the new cases reported today were in the age group of 5-18 year olds. There have been 126 deaths in Montgomery County due to the virus.

That is an increase of 7,100 cases from Thursday’s 514,459. There have been 6,022 (+32) confirmed deaths in Tennessee because of the virus.

O N E   H U N D R E D   F I F T Y   T H R E E   new cases of the COVID-19 Coronavirus have been reported in Montgomery County. The total is 11,664. Sixteen of the new cases reported today were in the age group of 5-18 year olds. There have been 126 deaths in Montgomery County due to the virus.

General Motors recalls over 600,000 vehicles because Front Center Seat Belts may not be Secured

 

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration - NHTSAWashington, D.C. – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe and GMC Yukon XL and 2020-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles.

Certain 2019-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks are being recalled because seat belt brackets may not be secured to the seat frame in the front-row center seating position.

TWRA names Jay McClellan Engineering Division Chief

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Jay McClellan has been named the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Engineering Division Chief. McClellan moves in to his new role after serving as the Assistant Engineering Chief since September 2010.

As TWRA Engineering Chief, McClellan is responsible for the overall supervision of the division. His duties include the planning, scheduling, and design of projects for TWRA boating access, wildlife management areas, and hatcheries.
