Tennessee Department of Health reports 2,948 new cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus in Tennessee, January 13th, 2021

 

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – On Wednesday, January 13th, 2021, the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) reports that there have been 572,619 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus. That is an increase of 2,948 cases from Tuesday’s 569,671. There have been 6,856 (+99) confirmed deaths in Tennessee because of the virus.

O N E   H U N D R E D   T W E N T Y   S E V E N   new cases of the COVID-19 Coronavirus have been reported in Montgomery County. The total is 13,667. Fifteen of the new cases reported today were in the age group of 5-18 year olds. There have been 145 (+3) deaths in Montgomery County due to the virus.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – On Thursday evening, January 14th, 2021, the #23/24 Tennessee women’s basketball team (8-1, 2-0 SEC) opens a three-game stretch vs. a trio of teams that stand a combined 27-2 overall and 11-2 in their respective conferences. Two of those teams are receiving votes and the third is ranked No. 4 in the nation.

First on the docket is Georgia (10-1, 2-1 SEC), which is receiving votes in both polls and comes to Knoxville for a 5:32pm showdown on Thursday at Thompson-Boling Arena.

The Tennessee Lady Vols currently stands all alone in third place in the SEC standings as one of only three teams with unblemished league records. The other two are #5/4 South Carolina (3-0) and #7/7 Texas A&M (3-0). The Lady Bulldogs, meanwhile, come to Knoxville holding down sixth place in SEC play.

AAA reports National Gas Price Average Rises to Pre-Pandemic Levels even though Demand Drops

 

AAAWashington, D.C. –  At $2.31, the national gas price average is at its highest in 10 months. Pump prices have increased despite gas demand falling from 8.1 million b/d to 7.4 million b/d — the lowest level recorded since the end of May 2020, according to the Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) latest weekly report.

Today’s average is six cents more than last week, 16 cents more than a month ago, but still cheaper than last year by 27 cents.
