#18 Tennessee Men’s Basketball scorches #15 Kansas, 80-61

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – A 53 percent shooting performance and a dominant rebounding effort pushed the 18th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers basketball team past No. 15 Kansas, 80-61, on Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena. The victory clinched this year’s SEC/Big 12 Challenge for the SEC, 5-4.

The Volunteers (12-3) ripped down 38 rebounds, out-rebounding the Jayhawks by 15 and holding Kansas (11-6) to zero second-chance points.

Tennessee was also lights out from both 3-point range (8 of 13) and the foul line (16 of 17).

Tennessee Department of Health reports 1,880 new cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus in Tennessee, January 30th, 2021

 

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) reports that there have been 615,041 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus as of Saturday, January 30th, 2021. That is an increase of 1,880 cases from Friday’s 613,161. There have been 7,846 (+78) confirmed deaths in Tennessee because of the virus.

There have been   S I X T Y   O N E    new cases of the COVID-19 Coronavirus reported in Montgomery County. The total is 15,652. Thirteen of the new cases reported today were in the age group of 5-18 year olds. There have been 164 (+2) deaths in Montgomery County due to the virus. There were 250 tests given with 41 positive results for a 16.4 percent positive.

FBI reports Emotet Botnet Disrupted in International Cyber Operation

 

Federal Bureau of Investigation - FBIWashington, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Justice, Friday, January 29th, 2021, announced its participation in a multinational operation involving actions in the United States, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom to disrupt and take down the infrastructure of the malware and botnet known as Emotet.

Additionally, officials in Lithuania, Sweden, and Ukraine assisted in this major cyber investigative action.

UT, which is third in the standings and one of only three SEC teams with one loss or fewer in league play (along with South Carolina and Texas A&M), tips it off on The Summitt against the Gators at 1:02pm CT.

Tennessee enters this contest after carding its second one-point victory of the season in three such games, coming from 13 points down and then holding on for the win over Ole Miss, 68-67, on Thursday night in Knoxville.

Milwaukee Brewers release 2021 Triple-A-Coaching Staff

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Milwaukee Brewers announced today their 2021 Minor League Baseball coaching staffs, including the Triple-A level, which is expected to be the Nashville Sounds. As previously announced, the Sounds have been invited to be Milwaukee’s top affiliate as part of Major League Baseball’s reorganization of the minor leagues, a process that is expected to be finalized next month.

Rick Sweet will be the manager of the Nashville Sounds for the 2021 season. Sweet is joined by pitching coach Jim Henderson, hitting coach Al LeBoeuf, coach Ned Yost IV, athletic trainer Lanning Tucker and strength and conditioning specialist Andrew Emmick.
