In the months to come, the world would shut down, the University would transition to remote work and shift students to online course delivery.

President Joe Biden announces Increased Vaccine Supply, Initial Launch of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, Expansion of FEMA Reimbursement to States

 

States, Tribes, and territories will receive a 5 percent supply increase this week, and Americans will soon have easier access to vaccinations through local pharmacies

The White HouseWashington D.C. – As the U.S. surpasses 26 million COVID-19 infections, President Biden took additional steps today to implement his comprehensive National Strategy to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

These steps include increasing the vaccine supply to states, Tribes, and territories and increasing funding to jurisdictions to help turn vaccines into vaccinations. And, the President announced that starting next week, the first phase of the federal pharmacy program will launch, and select pharmacies nationwide will start offering vaccinations for their communities.

Tennessee Vols Basketball loses on the road to Ole Miss, 52-50

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsOxford, MS – Despite an efficient night from 3-point range and a solid effort on the defensive end, the 11th-ranked Tennessee Vols basketball team fell on the road to Ole Miss, 52-50, on Tuesday at The Pavilion.

The Vols (12-4, 5-4 SEC) shot 44 percent from behind the 3-point arc, but a second-half run from Ole Miss (9-8, 4-6 SEC) pushed the Rebels to their ninth win of the year.

The Vols were led in scoring for the fourth consecutive game by senior Yves Pons who scored 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting while knocking down two of his three attempts from 3-point land. Pons also pulled down four rebounds and recorded a steal.

The White HouseWashington, D.C. – A proclamation by Joe Biden, President of the United States of America on adjusting imports of aluminum into the United States.

1. Proclamation 10139 of January 19th, 2021 (Adjusting Imports of Aluminum Into the United States), amended Proclamation 9704 (Adjusting Imports of Aluminum Into the United States), as amended, with respect to tariffs on certain imports of aluminum articles proclaimed under section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act, as amended (19 U.S.C. 1862). Proclamation 10139 provides that those amendments will not take effect until 12:01 a.m. on February 3rd, 2021.

Tennessee Department of Health reports 1,293 new cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus in Tennessee, February 2nd, 2021

 

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – On Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021, the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) reports that there have been 619,612 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus. That is an increase of 1,293 cases from Monday’s 618,319. There have been 8,068 (+93) confirmed deaths in Tennessee because of the virus.

F I F T Y   O N E  new cases of the COVID-19 Coronavirus have been reported in Montgomery County. The total is 15,868. Eight of the new cases reported today were in the age group of 5-18 year olds. There have been 166 (+1) deaths in Montgomery County due to the virus. There were 277 tests given with 32 positive results for an 11.5 percent positive.

Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts makes case to purchase Roxy Regional Theatre

 

New center ‘will drive investment in downtown’

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts is encouraging the City Council to move forward with the purchase and transformation of the Roxy Regional Theatre into a modern downtown performing arts center.

The Council is expected to vote Thursday, February 4th, 2021 on whether to buy the building at 100 Franklin Street from Roxy Productions Inc.
