APSU Men’s Basketball takes down SIU Edwardsville, 79-57

 

APSU Men's BasketballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball team wasn’t messing around Thursday night.

From the opening tip, the Govs were committed on both ends of the court and it resulted in a resounding 79-57 win against SIU Edwardsville to complete the season sweep of the Cougars.

# 21/21 Tennessee Women’s Basketball upsets #2/3 South Carolina, 75-67

 

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Senior Rennia Davis turned in 24 second-half points, as No. 21/21 Tennessee women’s basketball team erased a 12-point halftime deficit to upset No. 2/3 South Carolina in Thompson-Boling Arena, 75-67.
 
The win snapped a 31-game SEC win streak for the Gamecocks and marked UT’s first victory over a top-five team since taking an 82-75 win over No. 2/4 Texas, 82-75, in Knoxville on December 10th, 2017.
 
Davis added 12 rebounds to record the 36th double-double of her career. Junior Rae Burrell was also in double figures for Tennessee (13-5, 7-3 SEC) with 19 points, and sophomore Jordan Horston pitched in 12 points and five assists with no turnovers on the night.

President Joe Biden announces New Actions to Expand, Improve COVID-19 Testing

 

The White HouseWashington, D.C. – As part of his National Strategy for the COVID-19 Cornavirus Response and Pandemic Preparedness, President Biden has announced a series of new actions to expand COVID-19 Coronavirus testing, improve the availability of tests, and better prepare for the threat of variants.

As the Administration is working around the clock to vaccinate the population, we need to continue to do what we know works to protect public health: universal masking, physical distancing, and robust testing. These down payments will serve as a bridge to comprehensive testing investments in the American Rescue Plan.

Austin Peay State University Women’s Basketball rolls over SIU Edwardsville, 66-40

 

APSU Women's BasketballClarksville, TN – In recent years Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s basketball has become known for its electric three-point shooting ability, but tonight the Governors attacked the inside of the SIU Edwardsville defense and scored 40 points in the paint on their way to a 66-40 win over the Cougars, Thursday, in the Winfield Dunn Center.

Tennessee Department of Health reports 607 new cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus in Tennessee, February 18th, 2021

 

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – On Thursday, February 18th, 2021, the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) reports that there have been 640,214 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus. That is an increase of 607 cases from Wednesday’s 639,607. There have been 8,892 (+58) confirmed deaths in Tennessee because of the virus.

E I G H T E E N   new cases of the COVID-19 Coronavirus have been reported in Montgomery County. The total is 17,025. Four of the new cases reported today were in the age group of 5-18 year olds. There have been 203 deaths in Montgomery County due to the virus. There were 162 tests given with 16 positive results for a 9.9 percent positive.

Clarksville Municipal Court to resume in-person on March 16th

 

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville Municipal Court will return to in-person judicial proceedings on March 16th, 2021 in line with an updated order by the Tennessee Supreme Court.

On February 12th, Chief Justice Jeff Bivins revised the previously imposed state of emergency for the judicial branch and lifted the suspension of most in-person proceedings beginning on various dates in March.
